If you enjoy spending your leisure time outside then Arran is the place for you. The island is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts, whether that be walking, outdoor sports, mountain biking, golfing, horse riding, climbing or many more that you find on our partner site Visit Arran.
For when the weather might not be on your side there are many indoor activities available including swimming, badminton, squash, tennis, snooker and bowls.
There is an abundance of after-school activities for children of all school ages including dancing, gymnastics, tae-kwando, boxing, music clubs and swimming to name but a few.
With structure classroom and outdoor education there are three accredited outdoor education establishments:

  • North Ayrshire Outdoor Education Centre in Lamlash
  • Ranger Centre Brodick
  • Lochranza Centre CIC.

For adults there is a wide selection of interest clubs to participate in including sailing, rowing, kayaking, singing, drama, football, hockey and many more.

Shopping/Eating Out

The island has over 35 shops, cafes and restaurants across the island offering food, clothing, gifts and much more. There are many eateries across the island across restaurants, cafes and hotels there is something for everyone.

On Arran you will find many lovely niche shops selling clothes, jewellery, hand-painted furniture, food, drink, and household goods.

Veterinary Services

There is a local veterinary practice in Brodick that provides a full range of veterinary services for pets, horses and farm animals. All opening hours and contact details can be found on their website.

Village Halls

There are 8 village halls across the island, 1 public sector run one in Brodick and 7 community run facilities in Corrie, Lochranza, Pirnmill, Shiskine, Kildonan, Kilmory and Whiting Bay. 

Churches

There are 11 churches supporting almost all variety of Christian worship across the island.
