Guardian Article On Arran's Affordable Housing Issue

A very good article in today's Guardian newspaper which covers the situation being addressed by the Arran Development Trust and the plans being put in place, the article outlines the problem and what is being done to resolve it.

The Arran Development Trust has plans to provide up to 60 new affordable homes initially, which includes the provision of 14 self-build serviced plots. We are currently awaiting grant funding approval to allow this work to proceed. It is anticipated, if everything goes to plan, that the work will commence towards the end of this year.

The lettings policy has been designed around an “economic need” and specifically for current working residents on the island. The future holds many more opportunities, but the Arran Development Trust is starting by tackling the “immediate” need.
