£5 million, 34 house development - Brathwic Terrace, Brodick

North Ayrshire Council  have released today a press release outlining their plans for the new housing development at Brathwic Terrace in Brodick:

" Final preparations are being made ahead of construction work starting on new Council houses for Brathwic Terrace. 

Work on the ambitious £5 million, 34-house development is scheduled to get underway before the turn of the year.

Once completed, the new houses will represent the first new Council Homes built on the island in a generation.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Place at North Ayrshire Council, said: “We are very excited about our plans for Brathwic Terrace.

“These will be wonderful, modern and energy-efficient homes helping to meet some of the demand for affordable housing on Arran.

“Following the final plans consultation event held in June, we are now in the final stages of preparations and expect work to get underway in the next few months.”

The development forms part of the Council’s vision to deliver 1375 new homes across North Ayrshire by 2024 – one of the most ambitious Council house building programmes in the UK. 

During the construction phase, every effort will be taken to minimise the impact on surrounding residents. The contractor will only make construction deliveries to the site twice a week – on Tuesdays and Thursdays – and these will be scheduled during school hours to minimise impact. 

Each of the new homes will be fitted with innovative heat batteries which provide affordable heating and hot water. Other sustainable features include dual zone heating controls, low energy LED lighting and solar photovoltaic panels placed on homes throughout the site provide free electricity for tenants.

The Brathwic Terrace development is expected to be completed towards the end of 2020".
